BSNL & MTNL merger plans are back on!!

The Government of India is reportedly trying to merge PSU telcos MTNL & BSNL once again as it has (reportedly) appointed Deloitte as its advisor!

The advisor will be submitting a detailed analysis on the merger in 6–7 months while reports suggest that the merger could take upto 2 years due to its complexity!

The merger was deferred in April 2022 as the same was considered unlikely due to financial reasons. However, that wasn’t the first time the government tried to do the same. There have been several attempts in the past to merge both PSUs to make one giant PSU telecom company.
